Naked ladies in the park, naked ladies across the street and even naked ladies in the yard, obviously it's the blooming season of the hardy Amaryrillis and this year's crop seems especially bountiful and lovely.
Not so lovely was the event Tuesday afternoon when the Gardner home on Sixth Street burned. Firefighters from the local BVFD and the Braymer Fire Department responded to the fire.
It's almost time for school bells to ring and pencils to be sharpened. Football practice with Braymer has begun. Although January 1st is celebrated as the beginning of the new year, sometimes it actually seems that school days mark the true beginning.
At last the newest city truck is ready for business and it's time for street repairs to commence. Purchased some months ago by the Board of Aldermen, the vehicle needed a bit of refurbishing before the streets could have much needed attention. In addition, the city has hired a maintenance man (grader operator doesn't seem inclusive enough) who, in the meantime, has been busily mowing and attending to other duties. And, also another gully washer did indeed wash and deepen numerous gullies. The new township grader operator has been seen leaving town in various directions working up the country roads. The hope is that when all the road repairs are complete, there will be enough funds left in the accounts for fuel to push snow this coming winter, especially if the cold winds dump as much moisture on us as the summer breezes have. It was really good that we didn't have an excess of snow last winter.
We're keeping eyes open for a missing pup. The Weimaraner Dalmatian cross is about six months old and is white and black spotted with lots of spots as one would expect. It has been missing for a few weeks.
