A recent Sunday found the city with little or no water for several hours. It turned out that a leak in Daviess County had managed to drain our local tower. In the meantime, the water tower telemetry system was on the blink possibly from a lightning strike, this being something that happens from time to time which complicates the alert system. The local lift station had a pump go out sometime back and had been on backup for a while. The pump has been sent off for repair (and may be reinstalled by this writing).
A city wide fall clean up has been scheduled for Sept. 19, 2016, and a box dumpster will be available. No tires or hazardous waste.
A large crowd was in attendance when the DR Gray's celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary recently. Seventy Years! Wow! What really impresses me is that they were in attendance at the celebration for the 50th anniversary of their daughter Elaine and son-in-law Richard Otterman a while back.
The betterment group met last week; I haven't heard anything new on their plans. The BFVD has been talking about a fall fundraiser and discussing the merits of a chili supper or chili cook off. Either one sounds fun to me!
