The Breckenridge R-I School District held its board meeting on Sept. 12, 2016, at 6:00 p.m., in the FACS room. The meeting was called to order by President Terri Adams. Both the consent and regular agendas were approved.
Mr. Skinner gave the superintendent’s report to the board. He reviewed the financial report with the group. He updated the board on bus repairs. He also informed the board that a ceiling fan would be installed in the weight room. The compressor for the library central air conditioning
unity has had to have its fan replaced. The Mervyn Jenkins Foundation awarded a $5,000 to the district to upgrade the district’s computer lab. There is a local match of $10,010 for this grant.

Mrs. April Gramenz has received three new Brother sewing machines as a Donors Choose
project.

Junior high basketball practice is set to start soon. It will have a different look this year as the school is fielding only one squad. There will be two girls playing on the boys’ squad.

The district observed Patriot Week in recognition of the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The board received word that the Bulldog Club is donating $300 towards the purchase of new varsity basketball uniforms.
The board heard a report from Mrs. Brenda Toot, senior class sponsor on the preliminary plans for the senior trip. She discussed fundraising options and destination options.

Mr. Skinner discussed the vacancy on the board. He will re-advertise the vacancy.

The Annual Secretary of the Board’s Report was discussed. The district’s balance letter has been issued. The district closed with a fund balance of 26.86%. This was down from 29.60% from the previous year. The added expenses of repairs to buses, computers, HVAC, and bus purchases were the cause of this decline.
The next regular meeting of the board will be Oct. 10, 2016
