Hazardous Material collection event
The Caldwell County Commission in cooperation with the North Missouri Solid Waste Management District Region B, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, sponsored a one day collection event held in Hamilton on Oct. 22. The event serviced over 37 residents and was extremely successful.
Volunteers that provided labor on the day of the event included C.R. Bud Motsinger, Caldwell County Presiding Commissioner; Donnie Cox, Caldwell County Commissioner, Gerald McBrayer, Caldwell County Commissioner; Deb Davis, Randy Reeder and Trevor Evans, with the City of Hamilton; Randy Railsback, Executive Director Green Hills Regional Planning Commission; and Matt Walker, Green Hills Regional Planning Commission.
The banned items event collected nine computer systems, one copier, one microwave, six television sets and miscellaneous items including phones, printers, etc.; 37 passenger tires and five oversize tires with an approximate weight of 840 pounds of waste tires; seven appliances, ten pounds of scrap metal; 20 pounds of household batteries. Twenty-six residents brought household waste including 25 gallons of oil based paint, 65 gallons of latex paint, 30 gallons of varnish/stain, five gallons of used motor oil, approximately 640 pounds of aerosols, pesticides, herbicides, household cleaners and miscellaneous items including roofing tar, spackling etc.
The collection of these items and diverting them from the landfill is very beneficial to our environment and the residents of Caldwell County.
