Earl Miller
Earl Miller, age 93, of Hamilton, MO, passed away on June 6, 2019, at the Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron.
Earl was born on Nov. 10, 1925, in Lebanon, MO, to Joseph and Mora (McBride) Miller. The family moved to the Hamilton area in 1931. Earl’s love for the Ozarks never left him. In later years, he often returned to attend horse shows and trail rides.
Earl worked on the family farm until the age of 18. He then enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He earned the rank of Motor Machinist Mate, 3rd class. His time was served on the island of Saipan. His service lasted from 1944-1946.
In Nov. 1952, Earl married Patricia Morgan of Breckenridge. They were married for 60 years and resided in Hamilton their entire marriage.
From 1956-1970 Earl worked as a service representative for the J.I. Case Co. He then switched careers and opened a welding shop in Hamilton. He also served as the Western District Commissioner for Caldwell County from 1986-1990.
Earl was an active member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed many years of teaching Sunday School and volunteering in the thrift store. He also served as a volunteer for the Caldwell County Food Pantry. He was a proud member of the Hamilton American Legion Post #285.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; brother, Glenn Miller; and sister, Dorothy Clauson.
Survivors include his children, Donna Beth Byard of Bowling Green, KY, Toby Miller of Mission, TX, Christie (Scott) Holferty of Parkville, and Tricia (Mike) Trussell of Cameron; grandchildren, Paige and Christian Holferty and Miles Trussell; sisters, Alma Frazier and Alberta Jo Dickerson, both of Kansas City; brother, Lee Miller of Leavenworth, KS; special friend, Beverly Long of Cameron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 29, at the Hamilton United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Highland Cemetery in Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hamilton United Methodist Church or the Caldwell County Food Pantry.
