Edna Frances Miller

Edna Frances Miller, age 93, of Hale, MO, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Life Care Center of Carrollton. Edna Frances was the daughter of Irvy Francis and Laura Edna (Wilds) Hawkins, born on Oct. 22, 1923, in Ovid, MO.

She attended country schools during her childhood, and graduated from Lou's Beauty Academy in Chillicothe. On Dec. 20, 1941, Frances married Orville Oliver Miller at McCroskie Creek Baptist Church in Carrollton. She was a housewife and loving mother to her three children, Linda, Lee, and Margaret Ann.

Frances enjoyed owning and operating Frances Style Salon in Hale, as well as being a janitor for Tina-Avalon School and Hale School, and a librarian aid for Hale School. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge and Twin Churches Methodist Church. In her spare time she loved to crochet, go fishing, and enjoyed growing iris flowers in her garden. Frances was well-known for her wonderful pies and each Christmas her family would give her their "order" for their favorite pie. She would lovingly bake their special pie for each of them.

Frances is survived by her children, Linda Lillie Miller Purdy of Carrollton and special friend Ronnie Peel of Tina; Irvy Lee Miller (Charlotte) of Hale, and Margaret Ann Miller of Chula; one brother, Irvy Francis Hawkins of Harrisonville; two sisters, Nellie Mae Davis of Chillicothe and Sadie Margaret Brown of Keytesville; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Irvy and Laura Hawkins; her husband, Orville Miller; one brother, Billie Gene Hawkins; one granddaughter, Angelia Sue Purdy; and one son-in-law, Jimmie Dale Purdy.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 North 65 Highway, Carrollton, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at the funeral home, with Reverend Bill Purcell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer.
