Ilda Belle Hughes
Ilda Belle Hughes, age 88, of Chillicothe, MO, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.
Ilda was born the daughter of Elmer and Harriet (Page) Stoffregan on Dec. 16, 1927, in Chicago, IL. She was a 1943 graduate of Lock Springs High School in Lock Springs. She worked on the production line for S&K Industries for many years. Ilda enjoyed bowling, traveling, and volunteering at the Grand River Multi-Purpose Center. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chillicothe.
Survivors include five sons, Larry Hughes (Shirley) of Warsaw, Bill Hughes (Juanita) of Rayville, Duke Hughes (Judy) of Rayville, Ronald Hughes (Meri) of Braymer, and Harold Hughes of Excelsior Springs; one daughter, Penelope “Penny” Banhart (Fred) of Rayville; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; 14 nieces and nephews; and many people she called her kids and grandkids and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, David Stoffregan; one sister, Anita Lister; one niece, Peggy Lister; one nephew, Tim Stoffregan; one sister-in-law, Rusty Stoffregan; and one brother-in-law, John Lister.
Funeral services will be held a the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chillicothe on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the St. John’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, Nov. 12, one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe on Friday, Nov. 11, from noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
