Mable “Darlene” Everhart

Mable “Darlene” Everhart, age 83, a resident of Braymer, MO, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at North Kansas City Hospital.

Darlene was born the daughter of Clifton Guy and Myrtle Esta (Ross) Carden on Aug. 3, 1935, in Quitman. She was a 1953 graduate of Burlington Junction High School.

Darlene earned a bachelor’s in nursing at Avila College. She worked as a nurse for the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Darlene was a member of the United Methodist Church of Braymer. She loved playing cards and having lunch with friends. She was also a part of the book club and the Caldwell County Historical Society.

Survivors include one son, Steven Everhart of Yucca Valley, CA; four daughters, Darla Cope of St. George, UT, Janette Turner of Greenwood, Carol Brown of Lathrop, and Jennifer Everhart of Kansas City; 20 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ross Jr. Carden; two grandsons; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Saturday, June 22, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call the funeral home in Braymer on Friday, June 21, from noon until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at Quitman Cemetery in Quitman, on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caldwell County Historical Society or the Caldwell County Library, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
