Marta Ann Nigh, 74, of Hamilton, MO., went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 4, 2025, at the Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron, with her loved ones by her side. Marta was born in La Mesa, California, on September 27, 1950, the daughter of Lionel and Dolores (Guldner) Carpenter.
Marta was raised in the San Diego area and graduated from Santana High School in Santee, California. After graduation, she attended junior college for one year before moving to Missouri. On July 20, 1990, Marta married her husband of 35 years, Terry Nigh.
Marta held different occupations in her lifetime. She worked as a respiratory therapist at Cameron Hospital; she worked at the Consumer Commodities office in Gallatin; and as the secretary to the superintendent and elementary school for the Hamilton School District. She held the elementary secretary position for 25 years, during which time she came to know and love many children and their families. During this time, she also made many lasting friendships with co-workers.
Marta was active in the Young Farmers' Wives group in the 1980's; served on the board of Won By One Center; and volunteered many hours planting and cleaning community flower beds, helping to beautify the city of Hamilton.
Marta is survived by her husband, Terry, of the home in Hamilton; her sons, Casey (Nicki) Tapp, of Hamilton and Kalin Tapp, of Raymore; her granddaughter, Auburn Tapp; her brother, Lee Carpenter of South Fork, Colorado; her aunt, Jeanie (Darrell) Hamilton of South Fork, Colorado; her nephew, Chris (Megan) Carpenter of Bainbridge Island, Washington; sister-in-law, Linda Wendt of Champaign, Illinois; sister-in-law, Cherie Nigh of Topeka, Kansas; as well as numerous cousins and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister-in-law, Nancy Butler; and her brother-in-law, Gary Nigh.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., (doors open at 9:30 a.m at the church for friends and family to pay their respects), Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, at the Hamilton Methodist Church, Family Life Center, Hamilton, MO.
There is no formal scheduled visitation.
Friends may also call at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton on Monday, September 8, 2025, to pay their respects to Marta from 11 a.m., until 5 p.m.
Interment: Highland Cemetery, Hamilton.
Memorial donations may be made to the Penney High School Music Department or the Caldwell County Foundation Cancer Assistance Fund in her memory.
