Ruth Elizabeth (Liz) Blakley

Ruth Elizabeth (Liz) Blakley, age 58, of Hamilton, MO, passed away at her home on Sept. 10, 2018. She lived in the Hamilton area most of her life. 

Liz was born on Sept. 27, 1959, in Cameron, to Jake and Roberta Bell (Filley) Kresse, Jr.  She attended school in Cameron and Kidder, and graduated from the Penney High School in Hamilton in 1978. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.

Liz worked at various nursing homes and dialysis centers around the area, and worked at St. Luke's Hospital and Research Medical Center in Kansas City.  For the last 15 years she was the transplant coordinator at Research.

She was an avid bowler and member of the United States Bowling Congress, member of the NW Mo. Model A Club, the Heart of America Model A Ford Club, and a member of the NW Mo. Gas & Steam Engine Association in Hamilton, as well as a board member of Northwest Health Services.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

On November 1, 1980, she married Junior Blakley at the RLDS Church in Cameron.  He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include her sons, Steven (Katie) of Platte City and Jason (Ashley) of Chillicothe; three grandchildren, Madison, Christopher and Xia; brother, Albert (Theresa) Kresse of Hamilton; sister-in-law Bonnie Kirk of Harrisonville; brother-in-law, Bill Blakley of Independence; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13, at Bram Funeral Home, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Interment will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, southeast of Hamilton. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Caldwell County Foundation Cancer Assistance Fund.
