Verna Sue Sipple

Verna Sue Sipple, age 76, of Hamilton, MO, formerly of Portsmouth, VA, and Liberty and Sparta, KY, passed away at her home on Sept. 15, 2018. She lived in Hamilton for the past 24 years.

Verna was born on Oct. 3, 1941, in Ohio, to James Kenneth and Doris Jividen. She earned degrees in nursing and business while living in Portsmouth. She honorably served her country in the Navy from 1960-1964, working in coding. She had worked as a nurse in numerous places including a hospital in Virginia.

Verna was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church, was active in 4-H with her children, was a bingo volunteer at the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Hamilton, and was the University of Kentucky’s #1 fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Louis Jividen; and sister Elaine Giles.

Survivors include three children, Greg Sipple of Gallatin and Michele Adkison and Shawn Sipple, both of Hamilton; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; brother, Ronald Jividen of Florence, KS; and sisters, Judy Arnold of Covington, KY and Terri Morgan of Louisville, KY.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation has been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton, following the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorials may be made to the Caldwell County Foundation Cancer Assistance Fund.
