Dear Editor,

I’ve been reading the book of Jeremiah recently. He says that because his country’s leaders are greedy idol worshipers who ignore the needs of the alien, the widow, the orphan, and the powerless, that God will send an army to destroy them. And he fully anticipates that he will suffer along with his fellow citizens.

That’s how I view our future under Donald Trump. The man is a godless worshiper of himself and money. He is already appointing men and women who will enrich themselves at the expense of the little guy. We have been duped, and we will pay the price. If the president-elect proves me wrong, I will be very happy, but his first appointments are very depressing.

What really appalls me is how many of my fellow Christians have ignored the clear message of scripture. We are supposed to welcome the stranger, care for the refugee, feed the hungry, cloth the naked, treat our enemies the way we would want to be treated.

Jesus is Lord and He will forgive us if we repent and turn to Him, but we are to have no alliance with evildoers. The religious right are a bunch of false prophets and their end is our destruction. Now is the time to repent.
