Take It Back

Fellow Americans,

The lazy, over-paid bureaucrats in our bloated, inefficient federal government have failed us again. They had a golden opportunity to repeal Obamacare, but didn’t. Instead, President Trump and company tried to force a lousy health care bill on us. Luckily, enough opposition shot it down, but it’s only a matter of time before they try again. Why don’t we ever learn that they don’t have all the answers? Why do we allow them to make life and death decisions for us, believing they have our best interests at heart? We should all know by now the vast majority of them are just in it for themselves!

Our founders believed very strongly in Federalism; that is states’ rights. They knew the secret to individual liberty was decentralized power. The Constitution, and more specifically the 10th Amendment, was written to ensure the federal government had a very limited role in our lives. Our founders knew that by giving the power to the states, we would be better able to keep our elected officials in check, thus preserving our liberty. Sadly, we have come a long way from the founders’ intent. Today’s politicians are far removed from their districts and their constituents, except during election years!

The federal government’s job, according to the founders, involves national security, international trade, and the protection of our Constitutional rights. Although our founders had no way of foreseeing our technical advances, their timeless principles of a small federal government apply now more than ever. I believe issues like health care, abortion, education, transportation, welfare, gay marriage, and the minimum wage should be left up to each individual state to decide for its own citizens. That way, if a liberal state like California wants to allow gay marriage or abortion, I don’t have to live with it and my tax dollars don’t have to fund it!

I also believe our elected representatives should spend most of their time in their home districts. By telecommuting, they would be more effective and efficient. They would be more accessible to their constituents and better able to understand their concerns. Most importantly, our politicians would be more transparent and accountable to us!

Please, learn about our founding principles and then teach others. Together, we can take back the power. May God bless you and the United States of America!
